An Overview Of The American Education System

In American education system a students must complete 12 years of primary and secondary education before attending university or college.If you want to study at a top USA university, a top college, or at an ESL, vocational or high school, a thorough understanding of how the American education system works is very nesessary. Without a clear knoledge of the system, an international student will find it difficult to make the right academic choices.Bellow all the steps in USA education system are discussed.

Primary school:
In American education system a child actually starts going to school at the age of five.This level is termed as Kindergarten.The first year is called first grade.After completing five years in primary school a student go to secondary school.
Secondary school:
After fifth grade a student stepped on secondary school where one has to pass seven years that is to twelve grade.From seven to twelve grade the period is called high school.After completing high school students are awarded a diploma certificates.


Undergraduate school:
The students who have completed twelve years education in school level are allowed to enroll themselves in undergraduate school.There are two course available in undergraduate school one is associate degree and another one is Bachelor degree.Associate degree requires twelve years and Bachelor degree requires four years to be completed.
Graduate school:
Students who have completed a bachelor’s degree can continue their education by pursuing one of two types of degrees. The first is a master degree.This is usually a two-year degree that is highly specialized in a specific field. Another one is PHD degree.It takes four to six years to complete.
